Lucky winner will play Augusta with Fred

Here’s an auction that would have been fun to be able to bid on – a round with Fred Couples the Sunday before the Masters at Augusta National.

About 700 guests at Tiger Woods’ third annual Block Party were treated to a four-course meal prepared by celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis and a musical performance by Grammy Award winner John Mayer on Saturday night at the Grove of Anaheim.

Another highlight of the event, which raises more than $1 million each year for the Tiger Woods Learning Center, was a live auction that generated $258,000. The big item was a package to the 2008 Masters. Fred Couples, who participated in an exhibition with Tiger earlier in the day, came to the stage and offered to take the winning bidder to play Augusta the Sunday before the tournament.

Couples said he’d pick up the winning bidder with his jet and let him stay with him. The only hitch: the winning bidder couldn’t be a “chop.” The winning bid was $145,000.

I have always heard the expression “when all of your dreams have been accomplished , just dream bigger”
Wellllllllllllll this would have to be the biggest , fattest dream I could ever imagine.
I am Fred Couples number one fan .
Too bad I sure he would consider me to be a “CHOP”

    Two questions…

    1. Fred has a jet?

    2. Can someone define "chop"?

It’s a piece of meat taken from either a Pig(Pork chops) or a Lamb(Lamb chops).

    First I’ve heard of a jet…..Surprised

I’m assuming a "chop" is similar to a "hack". Smile

Jesus………..If I had the money I would love to have been in that auction room, I can’t imagine a better way to spend the day than to be picked up by Fred in his private and taken to play Augusta! I’d insist we played off the blue championship tees, followed by a few beers in the clubhouse, chewing the fat with Hootie and co!! wow!

    I just wonder what Fred considers to be a "hack" or a "chop".  A 10?  A 15?  A 20?

    A 5?

    Surprised

A good question for the board would be how much would you pay to play Augusta with Freddie.  I could do without the jet thing.  I would probably pay about $5K for the round of golf though.  More for the sake of playing Augusta than for playing with Freddie, but of course he sweetens the deal considerably. I’d bet that $5K to me is worth considerably more than $145K is to whoever won that auction.

youre telling me! I would have done anything to have had the money to bid on this;  I would love to play a round of golf with our Freddie on any course anywhere.  However, I am a few dollars shy!!!!!

I bet Fred considers Zach Johnson to be a chop.

Really? And what do you base this on?

Obviously you’re trying to be funny with your post but that’s a pretty lame attempt at best. Freakin’ pud! Foot in mouth

    Doesn’t everyone???…think that he’s a chop…

So – you can most likely multiply your handicap by a factor of about 3 (turn my 8 into 24), as my nerves of playing with my golfing idol would double my handicap, and then playing Augusta would add that much again…

Sooooo – a ‘chop’ after all the hoopla, etc., would probably mean you need to ’start’ with a handicap of under 5, in order to break 90 !!!!

I would still give a ton of $$$ to play and stay with him at Augusta!

Excuse me, but everyone is totally missing the point here.

Sure, the winner gets to ride in the fancy jet and play at Augusta, but it also says THEY GET TO STAY WITH FRED (!!!!!!!!!)

I’m trembling at the very notion.
