The photos may come back at some point in the future, but that’s a task for another day.

I’m going to attempt to do links to stories when Fred is playing or in the news. Unfortunately, as is quite obvious over the past three years, I simply don’t have the time to dedicate to updating the site on a frequent basis.

This page has always been about the fans and despite very infrequent postings, the forum has remained lively. That’s the place to be – there’s nothing that I post here that can’t be found on the major news sites.

In an effort to encourage more discussion, it is no longer necessary to register to post to articles that appear here. (You must register to post on the forum, however…) There could be other updates as time goes by, including optimizing the site for smartphones and tablets in the near future. (This site will appear the same for computers, but a separate appearance will occur when accessing the site via smartphone or tablet…)

The forum crashed when we got so many visitors. Currently, the Google ads on the site cover most of the hosting cost.

To remedy our problems, I would like to move to a more dedicated service plan. That, of course, costs more money.

So I’m looking to the Fred fan community to help out here. For the sum of $20/year, you’ll get the satisfaction of knowing you’re keeping the Fred fan site up and running. Plus, you won’t see any ads on this site. You’ll also be recognized with a page listing Fantastic Freddie Fans by your screen name. We’re going to need at least 25 fans to sign up in order to make the move.

  • The course design page has been totally updated to reflect Fred’s golf course design work.
  • The gallery page has been updated with a gallery from 2007 and an in progress gallery for 2008.
  • A new archives page has been added to make it easier to find information by a time line.

A forum software upgrade is expect to occur within the next few days.

He did an admirable job – especially given that English is his second language. He oversaw Fred’s only win in the past 10 years during the memorable 2003 Houston Open.

And he did this on the measly pay of nothing.

David is now pursuing other interests and has resigned his position here. While unfortunate, it is understandable. To that we wish him the best and ask that he not be a total stranger. Thanks for all your hard work over the last six years, David.

In addition to the the Skins Game and Merrill Lynch Shootout, Fred is also playing in the Target World Challenge.

It was also announced that Fred’s playing partner for the Merrill Lynch Shootout is John Daly.

We’ve moved over to a new format to provide a better experience for Fred Fans.

A few important bits of information.

  • Some of the dates are not correct on articles, but they’re “close”. This had to do with how the older articles imported into the new software.
  • We’ve recovered articles dating back to 1999.
  • There are several features that we’re continuing to add and update.
  • Unfortunately, the forum and the new site are not tied together. You’ll have to register again in order to leave comments on the page. We are in the process of testing new forum software that ties into the new software, so register now to reserve your user name. Your old username and password continue to work on the forums.
