Fred Couples rocketed up the leaderboard in the second round of the AT&T National at Congressional Country Club’s famed Blue Course in Washington, D.C. A second round 68 moved Fred from the cutline all the way up into the top 30.

Couples started his round on hole number 10 – the par 3 that is usually the finishing hole – and went out in 2-under 33. He made birdies at the 11th, 15th and 18th. A bogey at the par 4 17th was the only blemish on his outward half. The inward half was an even par 35. Fred is 1-under for the tournament after an opening round of 1-over 71.

Fred finds himself eight shots behind co-leaders Jeff Overton and Tom Pernice, Jr. He tees off at 11:40 AM with Dean Wilson.
