Sure miss watching you play on the PGA tour. Take care of that back and hopefully you’ll be back soon! Just not the same without Fred Couples! Hope to see you playing again soon!
Has Fred considered Tracy McGrady’s doc in Waco, Tx.?
McGrady’s quote:
“Dr. John Patterson. He had worked on (Rockets assistant coach) Charlie Ward, and Charlie told me I should go see him. He is the one who worked on Terrell Owens’ leg. Andy Roddick saw him. I called Andy, and he said he was great.”
I have always been one of your biggest fans. When my game goes bad I always say to myself “Swing like Freddy or Putt like Freddy”
I have seen you many times at the TPC where I marshalled # 17, in fact I was there for the famous “3″
I just wanted to leave you a thank you for my first hole-in-one. I recieved it 07/06/07 playing a Bridgestone e6. Just as expected it had to be “just like Freddie”
Hey Fred, U of H ‘84 here. I was at 18th green at Redstone when you won the Houston Open. Well deserved tears my friend. Well deserved. Take care of your back. We all want you to play again. What exactly is wrong with your back? I know you’ve already got the best working on it but another set of eyes never hurts.
Love ya man, Ted
Hi Freddie
What can we do to make you the next captain of the President’s Cup. I think you deserve it for all you have done for the game (maybe more than Azinger). I sent several messages to the golf channel about this subject but all I received was “nothing”.
By the way my wife Fran and I where in Maui during the 2003 Mercedes Championship and I think my wife may have been stalking you and your wife. She kept running into you and your wife all over the Ritz.
Good luck with your back and the Skins game. It will be a treat to see you play again.

I finally get to take my son to Augusta next April. I want him to watch you hit balls on the practice tee. Then we’re going to follow you around the course. I was there in 1994 and this is my first trip back since then. Hiope you’re well. All the best.
Fred - Can’t wait to see you play in the skins game. We miss you so much. Especially your cute little grin you make. Looking forward to seeing you.
How can I obtain an autographed photo of Fred’s magnificent swing?
Fred:
Regarding your back pain, I know you must have had a million suggestions, but after having to take off a year from playing golf, I have the answer and I am not selling anything.
Please go to SACROWEDGY.COM. The device only cost me about $40.00 and within 30 days, using it only 20 minutes per day, I was, and continue to be, pain free. I had a herniated disk as well as a bulging disk which cause sciatica down my right leg so bad that I walked with a limp for a year.
I went to an arthopedic surgeon, three chiropractors, an acupuncturist, two physical therapy offices and had two lumbar injections, all to no avail. Out of desperation, I found the device on the Internet and it worked!
While watching you play today, they said that you were going to a doctor in Waco which is only an hour north of Sun City, Georgetown where we live. If you are interested, I would be happy to show you the device and how it works.
Good luck,
Bob Williams
where & from whom can one buy a video on Fred’s swing & game?
I know this is a long shot but here it goes anyway. I’m just a down to earth guy who is married with 3 daughters. I was laid off from my job due to it moving to another country. I am now a full time student again (Radiologic Technology) and trying to support my family from my unemployment checks. Anyway, I was watching a coulple of weeks ago the Father/Son Tourny and was thinking how cool it would be to play with all these great players. I guess I was wondering what my chances would ever be to play a round of golf with the Pro with the prettiest looking swing on the PGA? Yes, Mr. Fred Couples. As I reside in Michigan, we only get a few good months to golf seeing how it could be 75 degrees one day and snowing the next. Thanks for letting me ramble and thanks for letting me a part of your fan club.

Fred:
I too have suffered from debilitating back pain, but have found the best treatment. Two books from John Sarno, M.D., titled Healing Back Pain, and The Mindbody Prescription have been instrumental in my recovery. They are worth reading. Dr. Sarno practices in New York. this apprach differs in that it does not require stretching, exerises, adjustments, physical therapy, or surgery. The pain disappears through knowledge of the physiological/psychological pain process. Give it a read and feel better instantly!
FRED WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO START PLAYING AGAIN. I KEEP YOUR HOME PAGE BUT THERE IS NO NEWS YET. I REALLY MISS SEEING YOU. I AM 84 YRS OLD AND I HAVE BEEN WATCHING YOU EVERY SINCE YOU STARTED RIGHT OUT OF COLLEGE.
SURE HOPE THE BACK IS WELL AND YOU WILL BE WITH US SOOM

To the moderators -
I’ve registered on this board under the nick “FreddieCouples” - not the smartest idea I’ve ever had…
Please remove my nick altogether since it unintentionally fools people in believing that I may be the man himself, sending advice how to deal with back pain etc.
I will register after that with a new nick name.
Thanks for your help!
Best regards from Vienna, Austria

Fred, have you ever played with a golf gloove? If so, when and why did you stop wearing one?
I use to wear one but now find I have a better feel for the clubs w/out one. I wore batting gloves in younger days when playing ball to take the sting and vibration out of the bat but there isn’t that need when using a golf club when struck properly.
Plus it is just another collection spot for sweat.
Freddie….I am still in mourning from not seeing you at Firestone last summer. I am hoping that I can stalk you this summer. LOL! Best wishes to you in 2008!!

Thank you.
Hey i am currently serving in a wounded warrior batallion at fort lewis and they are having a wounded warrior competition ending with a golf tournament. They are currently looking for VIP’s to play with the warriors like me. I was wondering if Fred would like to participate in this event. Thank You
Hi Fred - My brother is the reason I’m writing. He has degenerative discs and has lost 4 in his lower back now. I’m sure your whole family and your best fans can understand how much pain we’re feeling for him right now. I wish it were me. I feel helpless. But, you’re the biggest inspiration to him and one thing helping him to get through another day. I know the answers are out there, but we’re having trouble finding them. I saw the email above from Bob Williams… I will be passing this information along. Thank you Bob. If anyone else knows of a name or anything else that can help us, we would be forever greatful. Fred, you are a success story in so many ways. I’m so glad you’re out there. I don’t know where my brother would be if you weren’t. I wish the best to you and your family and I only hope that someday the technology catches up so that you and my brother can break away from this completely. Best of luck to you!

Obviously i’m a big fan. As a matter of fact I used to follow you at Doral and watched you hit balls at the range many times. In the dictionary under the word “TEMPO” should be your picture.
I played golf 4-5 times a week for 10 years and my USGA index got down to 4.3. Then circumstances(EX-wife)made playing not possible any more.
That was 9 years ago. The circumstances no longer are a problem and i’ve started playing again. My 2 questions are:
1. With the Maxfli Revolution not being made any more I need to find a new ball. I loved the soft feel. What ball have you found that has a similar feel to it? The soft feel is more important than distance to me but the Revolution was a GREAT mix of both.
2. When I stopped playing I was 40. Now i’m 50 and at the range i’m having a really hard time turning the ball over. A friend suggested the S300 shafts may to be too stiff for me especially in the long irons because it is only natural that I don’t have the same swing speed as I did 10 years ago. I play Mizuno t-zoid irons and am thinking about going to a shaft that is not as stiff. Any suggestions?
Thanks and Good Luck. How ’bout them JAYHAWKS!!!!!
Greg
Villegas, who cares! Fred is and always will be the hottest guy to ever play the game. Love the grin and the swings not bad either!
Cheryl
Im sure you hear this a lot, but Fred you are truely my favorite player of all time.. I live in Ohio and occasionally i get the honor of watching you play at Firestone and Muirfield and in my opinion there is no one better.. I know the back is bad and no one really knows how many tournaments you got left in ya, but I DEFFINATELY know i speak for everyone when i say I’d love nothing more than to see you win again! I saw this infomercial on TV a few minutes ago about this Trueback thing and how it helps all these people with severe back troubles. Im sure you have all the gadgets and stuff to try and help the back, but maybe you havent heard of this and its the missing link!! Go to trueback.tv and check it out.. Keep truckin along Freddie!! As an aspiring tour pro, one of my dreams is to get the privlidge of playing with you sometime!!!
Love Ya Buddy,
~Jake K.~
Dear Fred,
Coming from The Netherlands we (my husband and I) will visit Couples in Jamaica for the thrird time 1-15 January ‘09. We got married at Couples Negril in February ‘06. We will stay at both Couples Negril and Couples Sans Souci and plan to play golf there. My husband (42 yrs., hcp. 30) started playing while we lived in the UK for a while and I (38 yrs. hcp 24.6) just started playing in April ‘08. We both have got the golf “bug” as I may say.
here comes my question. I would love to surprise my husband with a game of golf with you/Fred Couples while we are in Jamaica. Would it be possible to arrange an unexpected and unusual question like this?
Yours Sincerely
Erica Mommers
From The Netherlands
Fred.
You will certainly noy remember me ot this small event. I was a volunteer (free worker to help the PGA players) our job is to protect players from the crowds and provide quiet etc for you as a player, at the DBC on Thursday. On the first tee, you arrived for your practice round and a strange thing happened, after some pleasant conversation, you teed off and turned to me with an emply box from a sleeve of balls. You dropped it to the ground and hit it toward me with your club. My colleagues at the tee and I were amazed. What a crass and arrogant thing to do. It said” here pick up my trash for me, I’m too good for you. Well, obviously you are not, because you failed to make the cut. Couldn’t have happened to a better choice.
Actually we laughed for days at your superiority display.
maybe your career is finally over.
1st Tee Marshall @ DBC
Hi Fred or your agent. I presume you have had a multitude of help/advice on your back. Last week on a local TV community program a hot topic was this new arthritis treament either a spray or a cream. The program showed that a whole football squad uses the product plus a host of other sports men and women using the products every day. It does not cure but I can assure you it gives full and all pain relief for half a day. I have pleyd to single figures for 40+ years and the last 2 yrs it has been high 70’s to low 80’s. As each round went by the back seems to tighten up but the first time I used it last Friday the 10th Oct 2008 I shot 16 pars and 2 birdies for a 70 on a tough track here with a slope (if we had one) of round 129+. To any of you reading this please go to http://www.painaway.com.au and the site will tell all. I have no financial connection to this company as it only came to my notice last week. Fred, if you do get the chance to read this please take it from a 67yr old ex farmer, footballer and rodeo rider I know what stiffness is when we get up in the morning. In fact I am using it on my knees now as they have seen some hard knocks. Getting through the ball this week has been a dream until now without pain. To all of you who suffer go take a look and you can then make an informed decision as you can contact the company direct. All the best…… Tucky
fred i remember wathing base ball with your dad downstairs at the brick house on beacon with joe brozio and you [7th gade]. long time no see… let me know if you are going to be in the northwest this year.
Hi Fred, I am one of your biggest fans from up north in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
I hope you have a great 2009. Rumor is you will be 50 yrs old. I know you still have a major in you.
One of my goals in life it to see you play and get an autograph. I have done many things in life and this is one is on top of my list.
Best wishes, and hope to meet you one day!~ Peter JJJJJJJJJJJJJJ
Hi Fred:
Have followed you for some time. First saw you at a practice
round at En-Joie Golf Club, Endicott,N.Y. Went there with my
hometown Golf Pro. Have some video tape from that day. Jack
said at that time watch you. He has a golf swing as awesome as
yours. So after you won the Masters went back to En-Joie with
my Sports Illustrated magazine in a plastic bag just hoping I
could get it signed. I saw the crowds around you and thought
this is going to be impossible. But knowing the golf course
since I have been there before. The little walk way between
holes #1 and #10 I knew you had to come there eventually. So
there I stood on top of the stone wall. I could see you
coming with a sea of people around you. Knowing you were
going to the 10TH tee you had to pass right by me. With my
Sports Illustrated Magazine and black marker in hand. I
jumped down in front of you. You so kindly signed it for me.
This is one of my fondest memories. Thank you for being so
nice. Its On Top Of the World and had it framed.
Thank You,
Arlene Stoll
Dear Freddy,
I have followed your career since I was a student at the University of Houston in the late 70’s.I want you to win another tournament before you hit the Champions Tour!
P.S. Could you send me some golf balls?I don’t play any longer, but I like to juggle them
Freddy,
There have been numerous times in your late 40’s that you have had a great chance to be the victor, but your putter seems to let you down. At the Northern Trust this week, even after not making what would have been key putts, you still had a chance to birdie 18 and win outright (if Phil made 5). That says a lot about how well you strike the ball from tee to green.
When I see your name at the top, it does not matter who else is on the leaderboard; even if my two fellow countrymen are there, I still am on the edge of my seat hoping you can muster enough determination and become the victor.
What would make my 2009, is if you could find something on the green that works for you, and contend on Sunday at the master. I don’t care if you win, all I want to see is you leave everthing out there on the course so you can walk off and tell yourself that you gave it all you had.
Forget about the state of your putting, surround yourself with and play some practice rounds with guys like Faxon, Perry, and Strick. Strick helped Weir last summer, he seems like a nice enough guy to offer some thoughts. If you havnt already, even consider the long putter. Do whatever you have to so that you can go into the masters feeling like you can win.
mr. couples…my name is kenny smith and you played golf with my family a few years ago in odessa texas…….i spoke to a friend of mine in houston that said he talked to you during the pro-am at the houston open……i wanted to tell you he did call and told me and the family hi for you……..we are going to try to go to the byron nelson and we wondered if you were going to play?…..we certainly would like to watch you and maybe say hi..cortney is now the men’s golf coach at lubbock high and the time he spent with you was what led him to pursue his being a golf coach…….please let me know if you have time so we can make arrangements……thanks so much…kenny smith…………432.631.6100…kennysmith12@cableone.net……..congratula
Hi Fred, my name is Michael Didula and i am a huge fan! I live the game and enjoy watching you play. I am interested in beening a caddy on the tour and it is hard to find any info or people to talk to. I have caddied before on tour in my home town Vancouver Canada. I know this is a long shot but if i can get some info or a site to look at that would be great.
